OUSD Claremont Multi Purpose Building
New multipurpose building with adjoining all electric kitchen, under construction on Oakland Unified School District's Claremont Middle School campus. Alter Consulting Engineers provided mechanical, plumbing, and building controls engineer of record services. The new building will include: in-slab radiant tubing for heating/cooling, a central dedicated outdoor air handler for ventilation, mechanically actuated windows, an all electric kitchen, and a CO2 based domestic hot water system. The building is centrally heated and cooled by an air-to-water heat pump which circulates hot or cold water through the building's in-slab radiant tubing. Electronically actuated windows are operated by the BMS to enable natural ventilation, free cooling, and night flush. The building's new HVAC, natural ventilation, and electrical energy monitoring systems have been designed to integrate into the districts existing facilities energy management system.
